Local Group Works to End Domestic Violence

(NECN) – A recent murder that’s been described as another case of domestic violence feels like a painful echo of the death of a local teen whose former boyfriend is accused of killing her.

Lauren Astley, of Wayland, Mass. was just 18 years old when her she died. Her former boyfriend is accused of taking her life, just before the two headed off to college this fall.

Efforts to stop domestic violence did not deter these tragedies, but the campaign to raise awareness has made great progress.

Mardi Chadwick is the Director of Passageway – a domestic violence program at Brigham and Women’s Medical Center in Boston.

She stopped by The Morning Show to talk about the group’s work to put an end to domestic violence, as well as some warning signs to help people detect domestic violence that could be impacting loved ones.
