MBTA Driver in Derailment Has History of Motor Vehicle Violations

(NECN) -  According to records obtained from the Registry of Motor Vehicles, the conductor of the derailed Green Line train in Boston has numerous speeding citations and other moving violations on his record.

Sydley Gardner was driving the “D” line train at the time of the accident, which injured 10 people.

Between 1984 and 2009, he received 20 moving violations.

MBTA officials say speed appears to be a factor as they continue to investigate the cause of the derailment.
