John F. Kennedy Middle School on Berkshire Avenue in Springfield, Massachusetts was evacuated after a bomb threat was received at 1:10 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

State and local officials swept the building, but nothing of concern was found to support the threat. The evacuation lasted approximately 30 minutes.

Superintendent of Schools Daniel J. Warwick said the district will fully cooperate with authorities as they investigate the incident.

"Student safety is a top priority and we will always err on the side of caution to help protect our students and staff as best we can," Warwick said in a statement.
