(NECN: London) - Rupert Murdoch says he was not informed that his company had paid out big sums of money to settle lawsuits of phone hacking victims.
The 80-year-old media mogul testified before British lawmakers on Tuesday.
Murdoch said he did not know of Rebekah Brooks' admission that she admitted to bribing police in 2003.
Murdoch says the tabloid News of the World is "less than 1%" of his News Corp., which employs 53,000 people.
Meanwhile, London's departing police chief has told British lawmakers that 10 of the 45 press officers in his department once worked for the Murdoch media empire.
