N.H. Court Upholds LaBarre's Murder Convictions

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - The New Hampshire Supreme Court has upheld the murder convictions of a woman who killed two boyfriends at her Epping horse farm.

The court ruled unanimously Thursday that a police search of Sheila LaBarre's property in March 2006 was justified.

The court said police were acting in a caretaking role when asked to check on the welfare of Kenneth Countie, who was staying with LaBarre.

LaBarre's lawyer argued evidence that included a burned pile of human remains should have been excluded because police had no right to be on the property.

The state said LaBarre gave up any right to challenge the evidence after she admitted to killing Countie and Michael Deloge at her horse farm.

LaBarre was sentenced to life in prison in 2008.
