Natalie Jacobson: ‘Chet and I Had a Lot of Fun'

(NECN: Alison King) - Natalie Jacobson and Chet Curtis were married for 25 years.

During that time, they had one of the most successful partnerships in local TV news history.

They divorced in 2000, but they have a daughter together and have stayed in touch over the years.

"I'm just profoundly sad that Chet’s life ended so soon," said Jacobson. "But I like to try to look to the positive and think happy thoughts on really sad days. So I'm very happy that since his diagnosis, which was Thanksgiving of 2012, that he's had some quality of life, and most importantly, [that he] was able to be at his third daughter's wedding and give her away."

Curtis died Wednesday of complications from pancreatic cancer.

"I think back to our time," "We lived in a wonderful time for television. It was the genesis of TV. It was an opportunity to just really meld with the community ... And Chet and I had a lot of fun doing that together. People would say, 'why were you so good together?' And I'd say, 'I don't know, it just worked! We were just old Chet and Nat.'"

Jacobson called Curtis "the consummate newsman." He was her mentor when she started in the business.

"If he's looking down from Heaven, he's thinking, 'Wow, this is really neat. People thinking about me and care about me."
