Nomination Fight in U.S. Senate?

(NECN) – Jim Braude joined Latoyia Edwards for this week’s edition of Braude Beat, and among the topics for discussion was whether we are about to see a nomination fight in the U.S. senate?

“[Hagel] has already created some waves,” Braude said. “Republicans themselves are not so crazy about him because of his position on Israel, Iran and a whole variety of things.”

Also on Monday, President Obama nominated Chuck Hagel to secretary of defense and John Brennan for CIA director. Will we have bitter confirmation fights?

A hearing began on Monday to consider whether the Colorado movie massacre suspect will go on trial -- what did we learn today in terms of evidence? Could this lead to a plea agreement?
