(NECN) - Northeast Utilities announced on Monday that they are merging with N-star.
The stock for stock deal is valued at $4.17 billion.
NStar mainly sells retail electricity and natural gas to customers in eastern and central Massachusetts, including the Boston urban area.
Northeast Utilities was already the largest utility company in New England, serving more than two million customers.
