Norwich, Conn. Standoff Over, Shooter Found Dead

NORWICH, Conn. (AP) - State police say a man who shot a Norwich police officer four times during an hours-long standoff has been found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Troopers on Tuesday morning identified the man as 30-year-old Jason Razzino. Authorities said a state police tactical team found him dead in a bathroom of the apartment where the standoff began Monday afternoon.

Authorities say the wounded officer, Jonathan Ley, is in stable condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital with four gunshot wounds to his body.

State police say Razzino opened fire on Norwich officers as they responded to a report of an armed suicidal man. Troopers say the officers returned fire but had to retreat to safety.

State and federal court records show no criminal or civil legal history for Razzino.
