Police Officer Struck by Construction Truck in Hopkinton, Mass.

(NECN: Jennifer Eagan, Hopkinton, Mass.) - Hopkinton police are investigating, after a police officer working detail was struck by a construction truck at Elm Street on Thursday morning.

The officer was transported to UMass Medical Center with serious injuries to his lower body, but he is expected to survive.

Investigators on the scene have been taking photographs of a white pickup truck labeled "Ludlow Construction".

Elm Street was open to traffic at the time of the crash, but it has since been closed to clear the scene.

The police officer has been on the force for 20 years, although his name and rank have not yet been released.
