Report: NECC Owners Pulled Money

(NECN) - The owners of the Framingham pharmacy blamed for the deadly fungal meningitis outbreak pulled millions of dollars out of the company in recent months.

The Boston Globe reports that the four family members who co-founded New England Compounding Center received more than $16 million from the company from December 2011 to November 2012..

The number is almost equal to half of its sales during that same time.

NECC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December.

It suspended operations after the outbreak which has killed 44 people and sickened nearly 700 others.
