(TV Diner) - Winner of many awards, including "America's 100 Top Hotel Restaurants" by Zagat, the Brasserie Pip at The Copper Beach Inn has a sterling reputation. Let's see what all the fanfare is about.
Diners can choose to dine in either the warm and cozy Brasserie Pip, which features a long copper bar, or the more formal, open, main dining room- and the menu choices are consistent for either. The menu, which changes often, features charcuterie, an array of salads and starters, fish and elegant fare to more casual dishes such as a burger.
We started with the Roasted Beets. Tender red and golden roasted beets were paired with toasted hazelnuts and drizzled with a sweet, tangy glaze. Simple, yet delicious.
The Bibb Salad was comprised of tender Bibb lettuce leaves, transparent slices of red apple, a sprinkle of lush Marcona almonds, slices of hard, ripe Romano-type cheese and a light and tangy, lemony dressing. Amazing.
For our first entrée we went with the Monkfish and Braised Short Ribs. This dish was decadent. The fish tender and succulent, the ribs fell off the bone.. they were paired harmoniously with turnips, carrots and spinach. Yum.
The Duck was also fantastic. Moist sliced duck breast was lightly seasoned and paired with light ricotta dumplings and airy spinach cakes. Artistic presentation and delicious as well.
The Tres Leches were three little dense cakes oozing a luscious sweet cream that we couldn't get enough of.

The Semi Freddo, a deep, rich, dark as night dessert was a chocoholics dream.. Richer than a mousse, it was divine.
Service was excellent at the Copper Beech Inn. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable.
We found the value to be very good with only top-notch ingredients and a super creative culinary flair.
Appetizers range from $5-$17, entrees from $16 to 31 or $45 for a chef's tasting. Desserts come in around $10; well worth the experience.
Overall we rated the Brasserie Pip at The Copper Beech in the coveted Platinum Plate. Ample parking is provided in their attached lot. They are located at 46 Main Street in Ivortyton, Connecticut and can be reached at 203-767-0330 or on the web at www.copperbeechinn.com.
