Woman Charged With Attempted Murder After Stabbing

(NECN) – The Springfield, Mass. Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance involving attempted murder on Verge Street early Friday morning.

When officers arrived, a female opened the door with blood on her face and neck. She initially shut the door, but then opened the door again a few minutes later. The officers observed broken glass and furniture on the ground.

One of the teenagers in the house stated that his stepfather woke him up by hitting him with a broom and yelling at him to clean his room. He said the stepfather also threw “kool aid” at the boy and told him to clean it up. The teen stated his stepfather was intoxicated.

The mother of the boy intervened on her son’s behalf and the fight continued in another part of the home.

After searching, officers found a 26-year-old male victim suffering from a stab wound to the chest. He was transported to Baystate Medical Center for treatment and is in serious but stable condition.

Officers arrested Serina Wainscott, 33, and charged her with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and attempted murder.
