The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office is investigating after a Rochester man died outside a sports bar over the weekend.
Rochester police said they responded to Gary's Sports Bar around 1:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of an altercation in the parking lot. James Unfonak was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, where he later died.
Unfonak's girlfriend said a man outside the bar threw a punch at the 44-year-old Unfonak, who fell and hit his head.
Foster's Daily Democrat reports the Strafford County Attorney's Office is also involved in the investigation.
County Attorney Thomas Velardi says authorities would have to prove that a fatal injury occurred and a suspect's specific action caused the death before any criminal charges are brought.
