The man accused of killing his roommate in Somerville, Massachusetts, Wednesday appeared in court a day later, where prosecutors said the killing occurred in the middle of an argument.
The victim's sister was apparently the one who called 911 -- she was hiding in a closet when the shooting took place, officials said.
Edson dos Santos Moreno, 26, shot 22-year-old Robert Favreau just before 6 p.m. Wednesday on Ware Street, officials have said. Court documents indicate the two argued over drugs; dos Santos Moreno claimed Favreau lunged at him.
The prosecutor asked the judge to withhold the names of witnesses over concerns of intimidation -- dos Santos Moreno allegedly told police he is a gang member.

Outside Somerville District Court Thursday, his attorney would not talk about whether his client is in a gang.
"I'm not going to comment on the specifics of the case. I would just say that there's more than one version of what happened. The commonwealth has told their version and the other version will come out soon," Michael Tumposky said.

Dos Santos Moreno was not charged with murder Thursday but he is expected to be soon. He is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
Favreau was pronounced dead inside the two-family home after police arrived. Dos Santos Moreno was found outside with a gun and arrested.
Favreau had been staying with Marino for several months, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.
Dos Santos Moreno was arrested on charges of armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and a firearm possession charge.
