Clouds and light showers will consolidate to form new, heavier showers across the hills and mountains of New England today as upper level energy and cold air moves through, promoting cloud growth.
In fact, some clouds may grow tall enough to produce a few lightning strikes this afternoon across the interior, where high temperatures reach 70 degrees.

Within about 30 miles of the coast, a sea breeze will mean a much lower chance of a shower until perhaps a late evening sprinkle, but beaches won't see highs much milder than the lower 60s today.
After patchy inland fog overnight with lows in the 40s, Friday still looks like a beauty with fair skies and highs in the 70s, even though cold air high in the sky still may afford an afternoon scattered shower from interior Maine to the White Mountains.

Saturday delivers temperatures back into the 70s as clouds increase ahead of a storm center to our south, which will deliver rain Saturday night into Sunday morning, though we remain optimistic on some drying as the day progresses Sunday.
