One person has died in an apartment fire on Bassett Street in West Haven, Connecticut, according to the mayor.
West Haven Fire Chief James O'Brien said crews arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke filling the first-floor unit. They knocked down the flames relatively quickly and found the body while sweeping the building.
Authorities have not released any additional information on the victim. It's not clear how the fire broke out.
