Two people are dead and one person is in critical condition following a rollover crash in North Haven, Connecticut, early Friday morning.
According to North Haven Fire officials, the crash happened around 1:15 a.m. on Interstate 91 northbound in the area of exit 10. Officials found the vehicle left the roadway, crashed into a tree and rolled over into the woods.
Police have identified the victims as Keith Burwell, 26, of Manchester, and Virginia Brown, 24, of New Britain, were thrown from the car. Burwell was killed instantly and Brown was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she died, according to police.
Burwell was driving and Brown was sitting in the back seat, according to a news release from state police.
The third victim, Matthew Wilson, 25, of Manchester, was in the front passenger seat and was able to get out of the car, police said. He was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital. Officials initially said he is in critical condition, but state police said his injuries are not life-threatening.
The right and center lanes of the highway were blocked but reopened around 5 a.m.
State police are investigating the cause of the crash.
