Man Charged With Stealing a Dozen Firearms From Gun Shop

Authorities allege Thomas Russo stole 10 handguns and two high-powered rifles from the Grouse Perch gun shop

Old Saybrook, Connecticut, police say they charged a 25-year-old local man with stealing a dozen firearms from a gun shop in town, after an hour-long standoff at his home.

Authorities allege Thomas Russo stole 10 handguns and two high-powered rifles from the Grouse Perch gun shop, whose owner discovered the break-in Tuesday morning.

Police say evidence in the gun shop led them to Russo's home. Police say they found numerous firearms and heroin inside Russo's house after the standoff, which ended without incident.

Russo was charged with burglary, larceny and stealing firearms. He's detained on $750,000 bail. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.

Police say they're investigating and more arrests are possible.
