Park Supervisor Accused of Stealing Gas From State

A spokesman for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said the gas and personal items totaled nearly $10K

A Connecticut state park supervisor has been arrested on accusations he stole gasoline from state-owned pumps and used state purchasing cards to buy auto parts for personal use.

Hearst Connecticut Media reports that Squantz Pond State Park supervisor Christopher Keenan was arrested Sunday by environmental conservation police following an internal investigation. He was charged with larceny and forgery and released on a promise to appear Jan. 8 in Danbury Superior Court.

It was not known Tuesday if Keenan is represented by a lawyer.

A spokesman for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said the gas and personal items totaled nearly $10,000.

The state agency fired Keenan on Dec. 23 and, according to state personnel regulations, he remains on administrative leave through Jan. 6, when the termination will take effect.
