Cool Halloween Expected

Cooler weather will be settling into the northeast for Halloween. High pressure will be overhead, so we aren’t expecting any unsettled weather for the trick-or-treaters. Kids might need a jacket on top of the Halloween costumes — or think of a warm costume if you don’t have one planned out yet.

It won’t be the coldest Halloween on record — the lowest temperature on record in Boston was 27° in 1904. Temperatures by the time you head out trick-or-treating will be in the 40s.

Let’s talk some more numbers! The warmest Halloween on record was in 1946, the high temperature that day soared to 81°.

There was a trace of snow in 1913. We recorded the wettest Halloween on record in 1939 with 2.54” of rain. Back in 1991 Boston Logan Airport received 1.54” of rain during The Perfect Storm. We will have a 25 year anniversary story on The Perfect Storm Sunday on necn at 9 p.m
