New Hampshire State Police say a 72-year-old Rochester, New Hampshire, woman has drowned while swimming at Ayers Pond in Barrington.
Police say a man called 911 Thursday evening to say his wife was face down in the water. He told police they had been swimming, that she disappeared for a brief time and that he then found her.
The woman, whom police identified as Ruth Meader, was given CPR after being pulled from the water, but died at an area hospital later Thursday evening.
