Fire Damages Building at Lumberyard

A fire damaged a building at a lumberyard business in New Hampshire Friday morning.

The fire at the LaValley Building Supply in Newport broke out at 9:20 a.m. and quickly reached three alarms, prompting multiple crews to respond.

The fire was brought under control just before 11 a.m. but crews remained on scene for several hours overhauling with heavy equipment.

One firefighter was taken to Valley Regional Hospital with minor injuries and later released.

Authorities said radiating heat caused moderate damage to one adjacent building and minor exterior damage to the main retail store building. Despite the damage, Lavalley's is expected to reopen for business on Saturday.

Fire officials said the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation but is not considered suspicious.
