Firefighter Dies Battling Brush Fire in Lyme, NH

The State Fire Marshal says Charles Waterbury suffered a medical emergency

Fire officials in New Hampshire say an Orford firefighter died while battling a brush fire in Lyme Sunday. 

The State Fire Marshal says Charles Waterbury suffered a medical emergency. He was taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. 

An autopsy is set for Monday. 

Governor Maggie Hassan has ordered flags to fly at half-staff from Monday to Wednesday. 

Waterbury was an active member of the Orfurd Fire Department for ten years. 

Funeral details were not immediately available.
