Firefighters put out a fire in a vacant 2-unit townhouse early Wednesday morning in Ipswich, Massachusetts, police said.
The fire was first reported around 4:45 a.m. on High Street. Upon arrival, firefighters saw heavy smoke pouring from one of the two connected units. The fire was brought under control within an hour's time.
High Street between Ipswich High School and Kimball Avenue was temporarily closed to all traffic because of the fire, Ipswich police said on Facebook page.
The townhouse was under construction and was uninhabited, fire officials said. They said no one was inside at the time and no injuries were reported.

The building sustained significant smoke and fire damage and will require extensive work before it can be lived in, authorities said. The building owner is working with a family that was preparing to move into one of the units to find them other housing.
The fire remains under investigation by Ipswich police, Ipswich fire and the state fire marshal’s office. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
