There was a hearing on Friday for a man connected to the Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Lawyers for Khairullozhon Matanov were in federal court trying to get to the bottom of media leaks after confidential FBI reports and interviews with his client turned up in the press, even though some of the information coming to light could be seen as helpful to the defense.
Nonetheless, defense attorney Paul Glickman had no comment after Friday's brief hearing with Judge William Young.
A Boston Magazine article from this month allegedly contains information from FBI agent interviews with Matanov, a cab driver originally from Kyrgyzstan and a close friend of Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
Matanov has plead not guilty to obstruction of justice charges for allegedly downplaying his relationship with the Tsarnaev brothers. He was arrested in May, and his trial is set to start on June 8.
Judge Young has given the defense until Jan. 15 to turn up a list of any witnesses who may have had access to those confidential reports. The government has until Feb. 1 to procure a list of witnesses.
In court, Young said he took the matter of media leaks very seriously.
