A judge has ordered investigators to leave in place the trailer and storage container belonging to a New Hampshire man charged with kidnapping a 14-year-old girl 10 months ago and holding her against her will.
Nathaniel Kibby is charged with kidnapping Abigail Hernandez Oct. 9, as she walked home from her high school in Conway. She returned home July 20.
Prosecutors wanted to move the trailer and large storage container from Kibby's Gorham property to a secure location to ward off damage and intruders. They also cited the costs of posting a 24-hour-guard.
Kibby's lawyers say the move would deprive them of their chance to investigate.
The judge Friday ruled that the property will remain where it is until the Kibby's lawyers can photograph it and prepare defense strategy.
A hearing on the evidence against Kibby is being postponed until next month.
Prosecutors were scheduled to air their evidence against Kibby at a hearing Tuesday. Lawyers for both sides agreed Friday to postpone that hearing for one month, according to court documents.
