Residents Warned About Hypodermic Needles After 1 Found in New Hampshire Lake

Officials in a New Hampshire town are warning residents to keep an eye out after a hypodermic needle was found in a lake this week.

The Eagle Tribune reports that Salem residents who visit Millville Lake this summer and find the needles to report them to local police, who will then properly dispose of them.

Hundreds of hypodermic needles were found last year along and in the Merrimack River by a Methuen, Massachusetts-based group.

In 2016 alone, there were 478 opioid-related deaths in New Hampshire.
