The man accused of shooting two Manchester, New Hampshire, police officers has been indicted on attempted murder charges.

Thirty-two-year-old Ian MacPherson also faces two counts of first degree assault.

He's accused of shooting officers Ryan Hardy and Matthew O'Connor in the early morning hours of May 13.

Both officers have since returned to work, and Police Chief Nick Willard says the department is relieved to hear the case is moving forward.

"The officers understand that it is a lengthy process but to know that grand jury found two charges attempted capital murder validates bravery of officers that day and continue to bring justice for the two officers," he said.

MacPherson is facing life in prison on the attempted murder charges. The officers will likely testify against him at trial.
