Shooting Suspect Found Dead in Woodstock, Vt.

Vermont State Police found 45-year-old Jay Wilson of Woodstock dead after a person was killed in a shooting Tuesday

A person was shot to death Tuesday in Woodstock, Vermont, and the suspected shooter was later found dead, state police said.

Police in Woodstock responded to the fatal shooting on Slayton Terrace around 1:20 p.m., according to state police. A person at the scene shot at an officer, who returned fire.

State police say the officer was not hurt. The shooting victim has not been publicly identified.

Shortly after, state police identified 45-year-old Jay Wilson of Woodstock as a suspect, sharing his photo on social media. Wilson was found late Tuesday night dead inside the house, police said in a subsequent update.

An investigation is ongoing. No further information was immediately available.
