Authorities say one person was injured when an Amtrak Downeaster train struck a passenger vehicle

Authorities say one person was injured when an Amtrak Downeaster train struck a passenger vehicle in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

The northbound train that left Boston at 11 p.m. Wednesday struck the SUV at the Union Avenue crossing at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

A passenger in the SUV was taken to the hospital.

No name or condition was released.

An Amtrak spokeswoman says no passengers or train crew members were hurt. The train was delayed about 90 minutes.

The road has been cleared and Amtrak says morning trains are back on schedule.
