Officials say two men escaped from a burning lobster boat off Vinalhaven, Maine.
The Coast Guard says the lobster boat was totally engulfed in flames when rescuers arrived Tuesday afternoon. An official told WZON-AM that two men jumped off and swam to a nearby island, where they were picked up by Vinalhaven Fire and Rescue.
The victims' names weren't immediately available.
Vinalhaven is located in Penobscot Bay, one of Maine's most active lobster fishing regions.
The Coast Guard says the cause of the fire is under investigation. The vessel is currently on its side on an island, awaiting salvage.
