Maine State Police have charged two Waterville women in connection with the stabbing of a woman in China, Maine, earlier this month.

Carrisa Butkewicz, 23, and Tiffany Glidden, 20, were charged with aggravated attempted murder.

They are charged in connection with the Nov. 4 stabbing of Katherine Hopkins, 24, who was stabbed in the stomach with a kitchen knife while sitting in her car.

The two women texted Hopkins to meet them at Fire Road. Following the stabbing, Hopkins drove to a nearby residence until an ambulance arrived and she received treatment. Her condition has since improved.

Butkewicz and Glidden turned themselves in to police after the stabbing, where they were being held on unrelated charges.

Both were due in court Friday.
