5 Hospitalized After Tractor-Trailer Crash in Maine

The passengers in one of the cars - a woman and two children - were ejected from the vehicle

Police in Maine say a three-car crash involving a tractor-trailer truck has sent five people to the hospital.

Ellsworth Lt. Harold Page says a car heading south on Route 1 Thursday crossed the center line and hit the tractor-trailer. The car then hit another vehicle head-on.

The passengers in one of the cars - a woman and two children - were ejected from the vehicle. The driver had to be extricated.

The driver of the other car and the driver of the tractor-trailer didn't appear to be seriously hurt. All five people were taken to the hospital. The extent of the woman and children's injuries wasn't immediately known.

The crash remains under investigation.
