$5K Reward Offered for Info on Pawn Shop Heist in Newport, Maine

Newport Police Chief Leonard Macdaid says the burglars busted through the front door of the pawn shop, loaded up the guns and fled

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the trade association for the firearms industry is offering a reward for information leading to burglars who stole 22 guns from a Newport, Maine, pawn shop last month.

The Morning Sentinel reports the ATF and the National Shooting Sports Foundation is offering $5,000 to whomever can point agents to the group who committed the July 1 theft at The Money Shop.

Newport Police Chief Leonard Macdaid says the burglars busted through the front door of the pawn shop, loaded up the guns and fled.

Special Agent in Charge Lawrence Panetta says the ATF's immediate concern is locating the stolen weapons. Macdaid says his department has identified suspects and is in possession of surveillance video from the scene.
