Autopsy Completed on Woman Found Dead Alongside Highway

Maine State Police continue to investigate the death of a woman found alongside a highway in Cherryfield in a case they believe is a homicide.

An autopsy was completed Thursday on the body of the middle-aged woman, who has not yet been identified.

Officials are not releasing the cause of death at this time.

Police say a car connected to the woman was found crashed 15 miles away from where her body was spotted by a passing driver on Route 193. The car is believed to have crashed in that area Tuesday night. Her body was discovered Wednesday.

That car is being analyzed at the state crime lab in Augusta.

State police ask that anyone who was in the area Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and might have information to contact them.
