Bill to Set Legal THC Blood Limit for Drivers Delayed

A vote on a bill that would have established Maine's first legal THC-limit for drivers has been delayed.

The Portland Press Herald reports that members of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee chose to delay a vote on the marijuana OUI bill.

Several members appear to support stripping out the proposed legal limit of 5 nanograms of THC - the psychoactive agent that produces a "high - per milliliter of blood.

Some members oppose a provision extending Maine's zero-tolerance policy for alcohol among underage drivers to marijuana.

Several members say they want to amend the bill to mandate that police test drivers' blood for drugs if they're involved in fatal accidents.

The committee is expected to take up the bill again Thursday.
