Boy, Woman Killed in Liberty, Maine Crash After Car Crosses Center Line

A 9-year-old boy and a 64-year-old woman were killed in a two-vehicle car crash

A 9-year-old boy and a 64-year-old woman were killed Wednesday evening after a vehicle crossed the center line of Route 5 in Liberty, Maine.

Janice Minson, 64, of Verona Island was traveling west on Route 5 following an out-of-state vacation when her Pontiac Vibe crossed the center line at around 5:30 p.m. Her vehicle hit an oncoming pickup truck carrying three passengers, according to state police.

Minson was rushed to Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast, where she died. Nine-year-old Colby Adams, of Hope, was in the pickup truck and died at the scene.

The truck was being driven by 20-year-old Evan West, of Liberty. West was treated and released from Belfast Hospital and his other passenger, 15-year-old Samuel Levesque of Liberty, was taken to Maine Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

The passengers in the pickup truck were all friends and headed to a store, according to state police.

Authorities say the deadly crash happened about a quarter of a mile away from another fatal wreck that occurred Tuesday morning. State police are investigating what caused Minson’s car to stray to the center line.
