Report: Children Hurt on Carnival Ride

Three children were injured Friday evening when a roller coaster came apart at a carnival in Waterville, Maine, according to the Kennebec Journal.

The victims were injured when a dragon-shaped ride, called the Dragon Wagon, fell apart.

One of the children was treated at Inland Hospital, but fire officials said the injuries were primarily superficial.

"Some towns don't get amusement park rides inspected at all," said Waterville Fire Chief Dave LaFountain, according to the report. "We had these rides inspected, but unfortunately, you can't always prevent an accident."
