The Coast Guard is searching for three sailors reported missing off the coast of Maine.
Petty Officer Nicole Groll, a Coast Guard spokeswoman, said the search began with a 911 call early Saturday with boaters saying they needed help.
The Coast Guard determined that the call was made from a location 20 miles south of Mount Desert Island.
The missing sailboat is a 40-footer named the Dove, and the missing sailors have been identified as Charlotte Kirby, Nathaniel Davis and Wilfredo Lombardo.
Boats from the U.S. and Canadian Coast Guard, along with aircraft, searched all day Saturday for the boat in relatively calm seas and under sunny skies. Weather conditions remained favorable Sunday morning but were expected to deteriorate by Sunday evening.
The National Weather Service has posted a gale warning for late Sunday with projected gusts up to 45 mph.
