Coast Guard, Maine Marine Patrol and police are looking for the 24-foot boat, owned by Portland Express Water Taxi

Authorities are searching for the missing captain of a Portland, Maine-based water taxi.

The Portland Press Herald reports the Coast Guard, Maine Marine Patrol and police are looking for the 24-foot boat, owned by Portland Express Water Taxi, that's been missing since Wednesday afternoon. Adam Patterson, 30, is the only person believed to have been on the boat.

Search crews resumed the search Thursday morning.

Police Lt. Robert Ridge says the company's owner reported the boat and Patterson missing at 2 p.m. He says Patterson has been living on the boat.

Patterson had last been heard from during a conversation with a family member at 1:30 Wednesday morning. Both of his cell phones were found on a sail boat docked on Long Wharf in Portland.

Ridge says authorities are treating it as a missing person case. The Maine Marine Patrol is in charge of the search.
