Day Care Owner's Husband Accused of Bribing Children with Candy, Gum to Get Them to Expose Themselves to Him

David Russell, 69, is charged with seven counts of visual sexual aggression against a child

The husband of a Maine day care operator is charged with bribing children with candy and gum to get them to expose themselves to him.

The Bangor Daily News reports that 69-year-old David Russell is charged with seven counts of visual sexual aggression against a child. He was arrested Tuesday and was released on bail pending a Jan. 4 court appearance.

Piscatiquis County District Attorney R. Christopher Almy told the newspaper the allegations came to light when children who attended the day care told their parents that Russell had bribed them to "expose their privates to him."

Russell's wife, Pamela Russell, operated the Just Us Kids Daycare in Parkman, according to WCSH-TV. She had operated it since 1997.

On October 10, the state Department of Health and Human Services received a complaint and Russell agreed to temporarily close her day care pending the investigation. She has not had any children in her care since Oct. 12, officials said.
