Maine State Police are investigating after workers at a Dayton child care center say it took more than two hours for a trooper to respond to a 911 call about an intruder in the building.
Lt. Louis Nyitray says police are taking the case seriously and as part of the investigation is looking at dispatch logs.
Jessica Antoine, a teacher at Little Hands, Big Hearts, tells The Journal Tribune she heard noises Friday coming from the second floor, which was supposed to be empty. She went upstairs to find open cupboards and saw a person run out the door.
She called 911 but says it took about 2 ½ hours for police to respond.
Six children were in the building at the time. No one was hurt and nothing was taken.
