Family of Teen Killed in Hayride Crash Sues Farm's Owner

Parents of teen are not seeking a specific dollar amount

The family of a 17-year-old who was killed in a Halloween-themed hayride accident is suing the owner of the Mechanic Falls, Maine farm where the crash occurred.

The civil lawsuit against Harvest Hill Farms owner Peter Buldoc follows the October 2014 death of Cassidy Charette of Oakland. Parents Randy and Monica Charette are not seeking a specific dollar amount in the suit, which was filed on Wednesday.

The Sun Journal reports the suit also names the driver of the Jeep involved in the crash and the mechanic who worked on the vehicle.

The wagon tipped over on a portion of the hayride that went downhill. About 20 others were also hurt.

A grand jury issued manslaughter and other charges against the farm about a year ago. Buldoc also filed for bankruptcy protection.
