A Gorham, Maine, farm will receive a $97,000 federal grant to promote local food production.
The Cumberland County Commissioner's Office says Plowshares Community Farm is receiving the money through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Local Food Promotion Program. The money will be used to expand the farm's store, which markets local food.
The commissioner's office says the grant will allow the farm to showcase food produced at more than ten Maine farms. The money will fund store fixtures and marketing. Products will include Maine yogurt, milk, cheese, maple syrup, cider and processed meats.
