Father of Woman Killed by Maine Fugitive Speaks

Robert Burton, of Maine, has been evading capture since June 5.

Maine state police have been searching for a man wanted for allegedly murdering his ex-girlfriend in Piscataquis County since early June. The suspect has been on the run and is believed to be hiding out in the woods.

Robert Burton has been evading capture since June 5. Police say Burton lived with Stephanie Gebo, 37, up until the weekend before police announced the discovery of her body. Gebo was discovered inside her home by her two children.

Vance Ginn, Gebo's father, spoke to the media on Thursday, and said he believes that someone may be helping Burton hide from police. He said Burton grew up in the area and knows it very well, but he still wouldn't be able to survive on his own for this long without food.

Police say Burton has been hiding out in the woods near Guilford and Parkman, Maine. There have been two reported sightings of Burton in the area, but investigators have been unable to track him down. The FBI has now joined state police in the ongoing search.

Burton is considered to be armed and dangerous. Police urge residents in the area to exercise caution.

Anyone with information regarding Burton's whereabouts is asked to call 207-973-3700.
