A harsh winter has been having a big impact on opossums in Maine, according to the Portland Press Herald.
They report that the mammal, which is relatively new to the Maine area, has endured heavy snow and other rough factors.
According to animal control officers, they’ve seen a spike of sickly foxes, skunks, raccoons and other animals in the wild.
Officials say that opossums don’t pose much of a threat to people and prefer to avoid confrontation.
