Husband, Wife Injured in Head-On Crash

A husband and wife from northern Maine were injured but their 2-year-old son was unscathed when their car was crushed under a tractor trailer on Route 1A.

State police say a car operated by Josh Bresett, of Van Buren, was driving south at about 8:20 a.m. Monday when it collided with a northbound truck hauling an empty log trailer in Hamlin.

The tractor trailer drove over the front of the car, which came to a rest under the trailer.

Bresett was trapped and had to be extricated with the Jaws of Life. He was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. His wife, Heather Bresett, had serious injuries.

The driver of the truck was not hurt.

Police say drifting snow that resulted in zero visibility may have contributed.
