A Maine man convicted of murder in the 2013 death of a Lewiston resident has lost his bid for a new trial.
The Sun Journal (http://bit.ly/29Y1d5N) reports that 28-year-old Michael McNaughton of Lewiston faces sentencing in September after a judge rejected his motions for a new trial.
McNaughton and William True were convicted in 2014 of killing 20-year-old Romeo Parent. Prosecutors say they killed Parent after he told police about True's involvement in a burglary.
McNaughton's attorney argued that important evidence in the case wasn't shared with him until after the trial. The judge agreed with prosecutors who said after-trial evidence wouldn't have resulted in a different verdict.
McNaughton's lawyer says he expects to appeal his client's conviction and the judge's decision to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.
