Police in Maine say a Rockland woman saved herself from a kidnapping after she fought back against her abductor and called police.
Rockland Police say the 22-year-old woman was walking home from work around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday when a man in a ski mask jumped out of a car and grabbed her.
That man was later identified as 29-year-old Shane Hall of Portland, and police say he has an extensive criminal history. The victim did not know Hall.
The victim said Hall strangled her unconscious when she first fought back and put her in his car.
Later, an officer noticed that the car Hall was driving was operating erratically and then pursued Hall for a mile after he attempted to flee the scene.
The victim told police she woke up in the car, called 911 and forced Hall’s car off the road.
The vehicle was stopped Hall was arrested. He’s facing charges of kidnapping and eluding an officer, but police say more charges are on the way. He’ll be arraigned in court Friday.
